The Place Where God Dwells – Psalm 91 begins – He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. It is indeed, one of my most favorite scriptures.

This passage of scripture, speaks of a hiding place in God; The secret place is, the place where you know that you are safe from all that would come against you. The Secret Place is the bosom of God, the lap of the Father and under skirts of The Almighty. It is the place where you can go when you don’t feel safe anywhere else.  There is nowhere in scripture, where you find such an extensive and complete view of the power of God to sustain you, to keep you, to protect you.

When my son went to Iraq, this was the scripture I and my family stood on, believing God for his protection. I am grateful that he returned home safely.  In Psalm 91, the Lord promised to deliver us from every trap, the enemy might set for us. Can you think of some traps that you have fallen into?  So can I.  But I know that if I remain close to God, that he will be able to keep me. When we stray from God or try to keep ourselves saved through works we fail. We are to cast all our cares upon Him because he cares for us.

Psalms 91 promises us that we can be at rest at night and can go through our days without worry. Psalms 91:5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; He promises us the service of Angles and the power to put our enemies underfoot.  He is a good God!

I love the fact that in this Psalm, the Father promises us that He was the one to call when life has us backed into a corner.   There are so many great promises in the 91st Psalms.  If you are overcome by life’s challenges and feel you want to give up,  I would encourage you to read this chapter over and over again.  I know like me, you will surely find strength and courage in it!
