How to Walk through an Open Door

How to Walk through an Open Door

An open door is an opportunity put before us by God.  You have heard the expression, “When the Devil closed a door, God will open a window.”  An open door does not necessarily pertain to spiritual things.  It could be an opportunity on your job.  A physical move to another state or a relationship that can lead to growth and blessings.

There will come a time when God will present you with an open door.  It is up to us to discern, if the door is from God, and the timing to go through the door.  It is not for us to make it happen.  Leave the details to God.  Revelation 3:8  I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it:

God’s open door can be much like Alice, going down the rabbit hole.  Full of adventure and trepidation, not knowing what is behind the next door.  We can decide not to go through that door, or press on in faith, trusting the one who has called us to this new place in the spirit.  When all is said and done, you will be left with greater faith and a testimony to the goodness of God!

The Open Door

I remember when the Lord was leading me to go to Bible school, in another state.  The spirit had been speaking to my heart for several weeks about going. I did not see how I could possibly go. There were too many obstacles in my way.  I had a teen son, I was taking college courses, my lease was not up, and I didn’t have the money.

As a single Mom, it seemed unrealistic, yet the Lord would not let me alone about it.  It was always on my mind, the desire was constant.  I prayed daily, asking for direction, but only until I told God I would go,  did things begin to come together.

God Makes the Way

That next semester, I couldn’t get the classes I needed.  No matter how I tried to manipulate my schedule, it wouldn’t work.  I asked a friend if they knew anyone looking for a secretary.  They gave me a lead, and I was hired on the spot!  The lease on my apartment was not up, so I had to talk to my landlord, about subletting the apartment.  He told me that would be fine!

That took care of that!  My sister who was the busiest person I know agreed to take care of my son, for the time that I would be in Bible School!   Step-by-step, God made the way clear for me to go to Bible school, in Virginia.   Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

After Bible school, I was lead to remain in Virginia.  I met many amazing Christians, and the  things, I learned, prepared me for life, and the ministry, with my husband.   Oh, I forgot to tell you, I met my husband in bible school, and we have been married for 23 years.

Let God Lead

An open door is,  God’s doing.  He created it, He opened it, and He will walk you through it.  You can not kick open the door, you have to be guided through it!  Do not go around, asking for everyone’s opinion.  As you pray for his guidance, you will see God’s amazing plan begin to unfold.  Stay prayerful, listen, and wait for his direction. Then after you hear him, remain in his presence.     Don’t seek for confirmation, but confirmation will come from those who know nothing about the situation.
